We will have an informational meeting and registration for optional tours at the hotel. Take your time for fitting the winter clothing (optional), shopping, and dinner on your own. At ~10:00pm departure for Aurora viewing. A cozy, heated cabin or wall tent with hot drinks and snacks makes your Aurora viewing even more enjoyable. Return to hotel around 2.30 am.
Day 2 City Tour and Meet the Dogs
Today at 10:00-11:30am, enjoy a city tour of Whitehorse, before embarking out to the lodge. Before heading out at ~2:00pm, enjoy a lunch in Whitehorse and check out of your hotel room.
The drive to the Lodge is ~ 35 minutes. The drive is a tour in itself, as you travel along the Ibex Valley. You will enjoy some breathtaking landscapes of mountains, and forests before arriving. Your room will be ready and your host will give you a tour of lodge. Once you settled into your room or cabin it is time for you to meet our furry friends. You can also explore the beautiful trails on our property, before dinner is served around 6:00pm.
At dinner time we will discuss the phenomena of the Aurora Borealis, talk about camera settings and the best spots to capture them. Make sure you stay awake for your aurora viewing experience. On site, there is a large deck/platform that gives a great vantage point for scanning the northern sky. Or, perhaps you would like to walk down to the river, north-facing.
All aurora viewing is self guided at your own pace. Enjoy the quiet while you watch the wonders dance in the sky above you!
