Trip Description: Watch the Northern Lights and experience the Yukon Winter surrounded by the breathtaking scenery of Kluane Lake, bordering the famous Kluane National Park.
We'll welcome you at the airport and drive you to your Hotel in downtown Whitehorse. The hotel is located within walking distance of all attractions, restaurants, banks and stores.
In the afternoon we will take you on a city tour of Whitehorse. Established during the Klondike Gold Rush more than 100 years ago, the City has many fascinating historic sites. Enjoy stories about the old paddlewheeler SS Klondike, the White Pass & Yukon Route Railway, which brought stampeders over the mountains from Alaska, the Log Skyscraper and many more.
At 9.30 pm we’ll depart for our first night of aurora viewing. A cozy, heated cabin with hot drinks and snacks makes your northern lights viewing even more enjoyable. Return to hotel around 2.00 am.
In the morning we pack our belongings and start the trip up the Alaska Highway. Our first stop is a sled dog kennel. You're more than welcome to visit and pet the well socialized Alaskan Huskies. Here you'll learn about harnessing and booting sled dogs and hitching them to your sled. The highlight of this excursion is to run your own dog team. Your guide will be happy to snap a photo with you and your dogs.
Spending an active morning outside we now are ready for lunch and some hot drinks in the comfortable lodge.
We continue our scenic drive to Kluane National Park and arrive at Kluane Lake in the late afternoon. The cozy cabins on the shore of the largest Yukon Lake with incredible scenery will be our home for the next two nights.
Enjoying hot drinks in the warm lodge or sharing stories around the bonfire will put us in the mood for our second aurora viewing experience.

Today is the day of stunning views! It starts with a (late) breakfast that we will have in the lodge surrounded by the St. Elias mountain range, which contain Canada’s highest peaks. Later we will put the snowshoes on and set out to explore the shapes of snow and ice on the frozen lake. If conditions allow, we can even try our luck ice fishing.
Back at our cabins you might want to prepare for out next aurora watching night by charging your camera batteries or just having a short nap. Relax, read a book or bring a card/board game to play in your cabin or in the main lodge.
This is our last morning at Kluane Lake Resort. On the way back to Whitehorse we will visit the Yukon Wildlife Preserve – an excellent place for wildlife viewing and photography!
On the guided tour you will learn about Caribou, Musk-Ox, Mountain Goat, Moose, Bison, Arctic Fox, Lynx and other northern mammals in their natural environment.
After the first part of our tour we are ready to relax in the steaming hot water of the natural Takhini Hot Springs and enjoy the winter landscape.
Check in at your hotel in Whitehorse and enjoy your last night of northern lights viewing at the Northern Tales Trading Post.
